Most Notion templates for writers are pretty tables without depth. They help you write down characters — but not develop them. They have a plot board, but no tension curve. They list your chapters, but don't show you whether your book actually works.
— The Writer's Cosmos is different
◈︎ The Architecture

Eight pillars. One cosmos.

Each pillar is a self-contained area. But they're all interconnected. A character is linked to every scene they appear in. A location shows you all the chapters that take place there. That's the difference between a Notion template and a real system.

01 ◈︎

The Workbench

Your daily cockpit

Daily word goal, writing streak tracker, 5-minute warm-up with the three crucial questions before every scene. This is where the magic happens.

02 ⬡︎

The Manuscript Core

The heart of it all

Three-act structure, one-sentence pitch, chapter database with tension values and the consistency checklist used by professional editors.

03 ✦︎

The Character Chamber

Living characters

Character architecture at bestseller level: need, wound, lie, truth. Plus relationship matrix and voice test.

04 ⊘︎

The World Bible

Settings with depth

Sensory mapping for every location, world rules for fantasy & sci-fi, timeline system that makes consistency errors impossible.

05 ↗︎

The Editing Log

Versions & revisions

The five separate editing passes used by pros. Beta reader database with feedback synthesis rules that actually work.

06 ◐︎

The Market Hall

Genre & audience

Genre conventions check, target reader avatar, competitor analysis, Amazon keyword research, cover positioning.

07 ⚑︎

The Launch Cockpit

Publication

Pre-launch plan, launch week, post-launch acquisition. KPI dashboard a professional publisher would use.

08 ♦︎

The Author's Archive

The business of authorship

Works overview, rights management, contracts, finances. Plus the emergency document that 80 percent of indies forget.

⬡︎ The Difference

Why not one of the popular templates?

There are hundreds of Notion templates for writers. Most are surface-level. Here's what they miss.

Other Notion Templates
  • Character sheets that only ask for eye color and hobbies
  • Plot boards without tension curves or diagnostics
  • World descriptions without sensory landscape
  • No relationship matrix between characters
  • No consistency check for long manuscripts
  • Editing as a checklist, missing the five pro passes
  • No market analysis, no launch plan
  • No business system for rights and contracts
✦︎ The Writing Methodology

Three concepts that change everything.

Built into the bonus section of the template. They're the secret architecture behind every bestseller you've ever read.

Concept 01

The Story Question

Every great story is built around one dramatic question. It's posed in the first act and answered in the third. If you can't articulate it, you don't know what your book is about.

"Will Frodo destroy the ring?" One question. A thousand pages of answer.
Concept 02

Show, Don't Tell

Instead of "Maria was sad," write "Maria stared at the cold coffee. She'd forgotten to drink it." Readers don't feel what you write. They feel what you show.

The Cosmos has its own system to train this throughout your manuscript.
Concept 03

The Iceberg Principle

You must know ten times more about your world than you write into the novel. That's exactly why the World Bible and Character Chamber are built so deep. The reader senses whether the world has depth — or is a cardboard backdrop.

— Ernest Hemingway, who named the principle.
◐︎ About the Maker

Why free?

My name is Marcel Tobien. I'm a Swiss novelist — six volumes of the Farben series, a cozy romance series under a pen name, several non-fiction books. And I'm the founder of EPOS-AI, the AI writing studio out of Weggis.

I know how much energy a book takes. How often you almost give up. How desperately you long for a system that has your back so you can focus on what really matters: the writing itself.

I built this Cosmos for myself. Now I'm sharing it — no strings attached, no paywall. My only wish: if it helps you, pass it on. And if you ever want to take the next step, EPOS-AI is here.

— Marcel
◈︎ When the Cosmos isn't enough

The Cosmos organizes. EPOS-AI writes with you.

Notion is static. It doesn't edit. It doesn't know your characters. It can't discuss your plot. That's exactly what the AI writing studio that complements this Cosmos was built for.

◈︎

Manuscript Memory

Up to 112,500 words of active context. The AI doesn't forget what you wrote on page 100.

↗︎

3-Layer AI Editing

Proofreading, style, content editing. With concrete suggestions, not just critique.

✦︎

Sparring Partner Chat

Discuss your characters with an AI that knows them. Fifteen specialized writing partners.

⊘︎

Tension Analysis

Data visualization of your book, automatically. Logic error detector, foreshadowing assistant.

⚑︎ Frequently Asked Questions

What you should know.

Is the Writer's Cosmos really completely free?

Yes, no strings attached. You enter your email, get the Notion link instantly, copy the system into your own workspace with one click. No paywall, no hidden costs, no trial trap. In return, I get the chance to send you a few writing tips over the coming weeks and introduce you to EPOS-AI. That's it.

Do I need a paid Notion account?

No. The entire Cosmos works on the free Notion plan. Notion only charges for team features and enterprise functions. For solo writers, the free plan is more than enough.

How fast can I start using the template?

Under five minutes. After entering your email, you'll get a link immediately. Click it, hit "Duplicate" in the top right — and the entire system lands in your Notion. A short PDF guide is included if you've never used Notion before.

Does this work for non-fiction, copywriters, or screenwriters?

Pillars Workbench, Editing Log, Market Hall, Launch Cockpit, and Author's Archive work for any long-form writing project. Manuscript Core, Character Chamber, and World Bible are optimized for novels but easily adapt. For non-fiction, you can use the character database for "interviewees" and the World Bible for "topic areas."

Can I use the Cosmos commercially?

Yes. Write books with it that you sell. Use it in writing coaching. Recommend it. What you may not do: sell it as your own template on Etsy or Notion Marketplace.

What is EPOS-AI and do I have to use it?

EPOS-AI is my AI writing studio — the platform I've been building since 2024. It does what Notion can't: AI editing, sparring partner chat with manuscript memory, tension analysis, EPUB export. The Cosmos and EPOS-AI complement each other perfectly, but you don't have to use EPOS-AI to use the Cosmos. The Cosmos is complete on its own.

Will I get updates?

Yes. When I add new pillars or improve existing ones, I'll send you a short note. You decide whether to upgrade to the new version or stick with yours.

Who's behind this and can I trust you?

Marcel Tobien, Swiss novelist and entrepreneur. Six published novels, multiple pen names, over ten years in self-publishing. My main business is EPOS-AI, an AI writing platform with paying customers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Full contact details on epos-ai.ch/en/imprint.

♦︎ Final Step

Write the book.

You've thought about it long enough. Get the system, start, write the first scene. The Cosmos is in your Notion in two minutes.

No spam. No paywall. Notion link arrives instantly.
